How do I use Spoak for client projects? What is a client project and how are client projects billed?

There are two types of projects in Spoak: personal projects and client projects. Client projects have advanced settings that allow you to customize which elements of the project you want your client to be able to see or not see (like the total budget, shop links, etc). Client projects also include approval workflows so you can send your client a design, budget, or shop list for approval.

To turn your project into a client project, hit the settings ⚙️ icon in the bottom left of the project, you'll see a 'Client project' toggle.

Once you turn this on, you'll then be able to update a few Client Project-specific settings:

Client Settings:

  1. Show all product details - your client will see all product details including the price and purchase links to the vendor website.
  2. Disable purchase links - your client will see the product price, but not be able to click the purchase link to the vendor website.
  3. Disable purchase links and hide prices - your client will not be able to see the price of the item or the purchase link to the vendor website.

Default Things View

This determines how your client will see all of the Things (products/Vizis/Plans) in your project! You can further customize the view when Grid is selected.

Check out how to customize grid view in this FAQ about organizing using Sections!

Default Tax & Markup

If you're doing the purchasing for your client, you can set a default tax & markup so that you're not setting this value on each item you add to your shop list!

How are client projects billed?

Our Pro and Premium tier members have the ability to add clients to Spoak. Each membership tier includes a specific number of active client projects in the monthly membership fee. Extra active client projects are charged at $4.99/mo.

You'll be charged monthly for active client projects above your included amount. You can archive a client project at any time to reduce your total number of active client projects. Archived client projects can be viewed (by you and your client) but not edited. If you need to edit a project once archived, you can unarchive it and it will be added as an active client project.

Visit the 'Client projects' section of your Subscription page to find out how many client projects are included in your membership, how many client projects are being used, and any extra client projects charges to expect on your next monthly bill.
