What are kudos?

Kudos are the community currency on Spoak. You earn them by doing two things: creating designs that people respond to, and showing up in conversations. Kudos accumulate over your lifetime on Spoak: they never go down.

Kudos are a reflection of how you contribute.

Two kinds of Kudos

Kudos fall into two categories:

Originality Kudos: earned when your designs get engagement: sparks, saves, riffs, comments, and votes on your posts.

Generosity Kudos: earned when you contribute to other members' work: meaningful comments, riffs on others' designs, votes, and giving Community Awards.

Your profile shows your Kudos breakdown and how you're performing relative to members who joined around the same time.

What Kudos unlock

As your Kudos accumulate, they unlock things:

Milestone rewards: hitting certain thresholds earns you bonus time saving tokens, profile features, and other perks. Milestones are cohort-relative, so you're always rewarded based on how you're doing compared to members who joined when you did.

Badge status: your badge on Spoak is determined by your lifetime Kudos and the Awards you've received from the community. There are four icon statuses: Tastemaker, Knowledge Expert, Creator, and Connector. Reaching a badge level unlocks a visible status on your profile.

The annual gift: members who reach a certain Kudos threshold in a calendar year receive a physical gift from Spoak in January. It's a limited edition collector's item: different every year, never repeated.

Founding Member badge

If you joined Spoak in the first 30 days after 3.0 launched, you have a Founding Member badge. It's permanent and never expires.

Where to track your Kudos

Your Kudos and milestone progress live in your rewards hub, accessible from the navigation menu on the left. Once you earn your first Kudos, the rewards hub appears in your navigation.
