What is the difference between a file, a folder, and a design?

These three terms describe different levels of how your work is organized in My Library.

A file is a single piece of work — a mockup, a plan, a swatch tray. It's what you open and design inside. Every file lives somewhere in My Library, either inside a folder or at the top level.

A folder is an organizational container. You create folders to group related files together — one folder per room, one per client, one per project. Folders can hold as many files as you need.

A design is just another word for a file, used interchangeably. When someone says "open your design" or "share your design," they mean the file itself.

How they fit together

My Library is where everything lives. Folders sit at the top level of My Library. Files live inside folders. If you have a file that isn't in any folder, it lives loose in My Library.
