What's the difference between Mockup, Plan, and Swatch mode?
Spoak has three design modes. Each one is built for a different part of the design process, and most designers move between all three.
Mockup mode
Mockup mode is the room visualizer. You add products, furniture, and decor to a canvas and arrange them to see how a space comes together. You can work on a blank background, use a photo of your actual room (via Image to Mockup), or generate a custom background with Magic Background.
Best for: Visualizing how a room looks with specific furniture and products. Sharing design directions with clients or the community.
Plan mode
Plan mode is for floor plans and elevations. You draw walls, add doors and windows, and place furniture to scale on an infinite canvas. Use it to map out the layout of a space before you start decorating in Mockup. You can also upload a blueprint or existing floor plan to trace over.
Best for: Figuring out layout and flow before selecting furniture. Measuring whether pieces actually fit. Client presentations where spatial accuracy matters.
Swatch mode
Swatch mode is for material exploration. Create a curated collection of tiles, wallpapers, fabrics, fixtures, paint colors, and finishes to define the material palette of a space. It's most useful early in a project, when you're establishing direction or vibe before committing anything to a mockup.
Best for: Exploring color and material combinations. Presenting a palette to a client. Aligning on direction before building out a full mockup.
How they work together
Most designers use all three. A common flow: start with Plan to get the layout right, move to Swatch to nail the palette, then build out the full room in Mockup. All three file types live side by side in My Library, and you can link between them in the same folder.
